ASSESSMENT OF THE AVAILABILITY AND USE OF INFORMATION RESOURCES IN AUDU WUYAH AMBI LIBRARY KADUNA STATE COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, GIDANWAYA

Abstract

This study investigated the availability and use of information resources in Audu Wuya Ambi library, Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan Waya. Five research questions guided the study. Case study research design was used, the population of the consisted of 1,556 registered users of the library. The sampling technique used was stratified sampling technique. The instrument for data collection was questionnaire designed by the researcher. Data generated was analyzed using tables, percentages and presented using pie chart. The findings of the study reveal among other things that low level of satisfaction, lack of functional library website, inadequate up-to-date information resources and electronic databases and difficulty in retrieving information resources. The study, recommended that, there should be library orientation for new students, the library should design, develop and maintain a function library website, acquisition of electronic database and journals should be considered, the library should update its collection.
