THE CHRONICLE OF FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF LAFIA LIBRARY DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES AND THE CHALLENGES OF PIONEERING

Abstract

This study examines “the chronicle of federal university of Lafia Library development activities and the challenges of pioneering: 2012 to 2022 in perspective”. An academic library is an integral part of an academic institution. The Federal University of Lafia (FULafia ) has undergone several metamorphic advancements in response to users need and technology. This study adopts a non-empirical method. It is an evaluative study of how the university library emerged and evolved to its present status. The researchers x-rayed the genesis of FULafia library, pioneering of FULafia library, challenges of pioneering; staffing, information resources, building and facilities, information and communication technologies, and library policies. Some of the recommendations made are recruitment of adequate staff; training of staff; provision of right information resources; adequate accommodation for users and staff; provision of facilities to enhance service delivery.
